Christmas Tree Lighting
Friday, December 5, 2014
Town Hall Choirs begin at 5:50 PM and Santa arrives at 7:00 PM.
The occasion that truly kicks off the holiday season in Fairfield is the lighting of the Christmas tree on the Town Hall Green. Gather with your family and countdown as we light the 90-foot tall Norway spruce, the tallest living tree that gets lit at Christmas time in Connecticut. It was one of three trees donated by the Daughters of the American Revolution in December 1918.
The festivities begin at 5:50 pm with the Fairfield Woods, Roger Ludlowe and Tomlinson Middle School Chamber Choirs singing songs of the season. The Fairfield Warde Choral Group will wow you at 6:15 and The Bridgeport Theatre Company will cap these amazing performances at 6:40. Enjoy some hot chocolate and free glow necklaces compliments of the Town Youth Council. First Selectman, Mike Tetreau will do the countdown to light the tree at 7:00 pm and Santa Claus arrives by Fire Engine soon after!
Parks & Rec., Local 1426 Fairfield Fire Fighters and the Fairfield Fire Rescue sponsor this event. We also thank the Fairfield Public Works Department and the Fairfield Police Department for helping make this event possible. Bring the entire family and join in this festive occasion!
Nominate Someone Great to Light the Tree and Celebrate!
Do you know someone from Fairfield who deserves recognition? A teacher, a student, a man or woman who’s serving in the Armed Forces, a great mom or dad? Nominate them and we can reward them by giving them the honor to light the tree after the crowd’s countdown at 7:00 pm on December 5th. The First Selectman will introduce this nominee to the crowd along with their accomplishment! Obtain a nomination form and submit by Monday, November 24th. Contact Ginna Paules, 203-256-3191 for further information.
